NTech Industries Elects New Board Members, Extends Investment Opportunity for Proprietary Technology
Sebastopol's Dan Smith and Willits' Margie Handley Join Board
Ukiah, Calif. - NTech Industries, world leader in optical sensors for agricultural research, precision fertilizer applications, and weed and pest control, has elected well-known local business and civic leaders Dan Smith of Sebastopol and Margie Handley of Willits to its Board of Directors.
"They add an incredible amount of depth and experience to NTech's Board," said NTech President and Board Chairman John Mayfield.
Handley, President of Willits-based real estate investment company Harrah Industries and whose family has a background in ranching and farming, is a well-known figure among state and local business and civic organizations. Ms. Handley currently holds director positions with the Mendocino County Employer's Council and National Bank of the Redwoods in Santa Rosa. She has a long record of community service, including elected or appointed positions with the California Rural Development Council, California Economic Strategy Panel, Selective Service System, and California Transportation Commission. She also is the President and Chairperson of the Frank R. Howard Foundation, which owns the Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits, CA.
Dan Smith has recently started a new venture in Santa Rosa called The Breakout Group, which will provide capital and management resources for startups, turnarounds and workouts. Most recently, Smith was vice president of Intuit Construction Business Solutions having previously served as chief executive officer of OmWare Inc, which was acquired by Intuit in November of 2001. He is active in community service and has operated his own businesses for over 30 years. Founder of OmWare Inc, he was the primary software developer for over 15 years and is conversant on many technology issues as well as business management.
In other action, in response to investor request, the NTech Board extended a first round of financing, which raised $1.5 million. NTech expects to raise an additional $2 million for further expansion and distribution of proprietary WeedSeeker and GreenSeeker optical sensor technologies, used for commercial and agricultural weed control and application of fertilizers.
NTech Board Appointments
GreenSeeker was introduced in December of last year to a global marketplace for initial use in wheat fields. Shortly before its introduction, the U.S. Department of Agriculture presented the GreenSeeker development team from Oklahoma State University with an award for "the most revolutionary approach in a century to fertilizing crops...."
NTech's WeedSeeker, introduced five years ago, is used worldwide for weed control by U.S. and foreign municipalities, the U.S. military, wine growers and other crop producers. For additional information about NTech Industries, headquartered in Ukiah, California.
