The WeedSeeker® Sensor

sensor Unit
The sensor, which is at the heart of the WeedSeeker® system, is a chlorophyll identifying selective spray system. The unique patented optical system allows the unit to detect and spray weeds while not spraying bare ground. The sensor is a self contained unit that has optical and electronic components needed to detect and spray weeds. It's a system designed to dramatically reduce herbicide usage.

A complete system includes sensor units, a controller, tank, pump, filters and the attendant plumbing. Kits are available to make your own system using 4, 6, or 8 sensors. These kits provide sensor units, the controller and cables. Larger systems are available. For complete information, contact NTech Industries, Inc.

While the standard sensor triggers an individual nozzle, the same technology can be used to trigger a row of nozzles, or a nozzle some distance from the sensor. That is possible with the optional VDC 05, a valve driver cartridge that can be used instead of the standard valve cartridge in the sensor. When the sensor detects a weed, the VDC 05 outputs an electronic signal to a solenoid valve supplied by the user. This solenoid valve then activates an external system, such as a spray nozzle or bank of spray nozzles. The VDC 05 is a replaceable cartridge unit.
