Vegetation Control
is a major component of a Department of Transportation's roadside maintenance
program to protect pavement and roadways, control noxious weeds, reduce
fire hazards, promote visibility of traffic, highway structures and wildlife,
and provide good drainage to minimize storm water runoff and erosion.
Manual spot spraying requires a driver to run a sprayer and switch it
on when weeds are seen or to have additional personnel use wand sprayers.
This method uses more chemicals and misses many weeds.
The WeedSeeker can
significantly reduce environmental impact and provide equal weed control
with 50% to 80% savings in herbicide. Since it has its own light source,
it can be operated at night, when decreased traffic presents less of a
safety hazard to personnel. Count the chemical savings you'll achieve,
up to 80% as you switch from broadcast or manual spot spraying to the
WeedSeeker. And, if you switch from a slow moving two-person crew(driver
and sprayer operator) to a fast-moving one-person crew operating the WeedSeeker,
you can cut labor costs by an estimated 50%.
