I bought GreenSeeker to improve my farm economics. Also, to have the ability to side dress effectively in years when N is lost to leaching or denitrification.

The dealer rep actually did most of it by himself in about 3 or 4 hours.

It really only required salesman support. Ted Mayfield, the owner of NTech Industries, came to my farm, which was great and really unexpected. I also appreciated that the GreenSeeker product manager actually has personal experience with GreenSeeker on his own farm.

We had some routine questions about what GreenSeeker was telling us when we started up; otherwise it was quite easy to operate.

Yes. It is hard to trust at first. I put in an extra nitrogen-rich strip in some of my fields that ran perpendicular to my rows. When I crossed this strip with the applicator, it proved to me that the sensors were sensing and responding as they were expected to do. I recommend this practice to other first time users.

It is making me more money.

My average yield in all fields was equal to or greater than my N rich strip in all but one field. My N rich strips had 240 lbs or N on them, so I know the prescription worked well. I averaged 130 lbs of total N, but some areas got a lot more and some got a lot less.

We were able to produce vigor maps doing our herbicide applications to see how the fields were doing.

Go for it. Farmers are too afraid to cut their N rates. It is OK to use me as a reference for future buyers.

Farmers do too many things the way they’re used to doing them. I learned a lot just by putting in N rich strips. Keep me posted on updates.
